Updates From The Author…

First I’d like to thank everyone who took advantage of my “Hobbit Birthday” party.  Over 30 copies of “The Vampyre Blogs – Coming Home” were snatched up.  While I would’ve loved to have seen triple digits, I’m not going to complain.  The book got into more readers hands and that is always a good thing in my opinion.  Hopefully, this will lead to some more reviews.  Sadly, Nathan and company have been stuck in the single digits as far as reviews go on Amazon, with absolutely none on Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and Smashwords.

So I’m going to offer everyone who is interested the opportunity to get a free copy of the book (Kindle, Nook, Kobo, PDF, even paperback) in exchange for a fair and honest review.  Reviews are important to bringing a book to a wider audience.  We all know that whenever we think about purchasing a book or almost anything these days, we check online to see what kind of rating the item has.

Naturally, I’d love to see a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews, but I leave that up to the reviewers.  I ask for honest and I mean it.  If you found the book wasn’t to your taste and you don’t wish to leave a review, just let me know so I’m not left in limbo wondering what happened.   The only thing I ask is that the reading and the review be done within 2 months of you getting the book.  If by chance you volunteer and life gets in the way, again just let me know.  Life happens to all of us including yours truly, so no worries.  Just stay in touch is all I ask.

So if anyone wishes to be a reviewer, please e-mail me at:

allan.krummenacker@gmail.com

Please include your name, e-mail address, and what book format you want and I’ll be in touch with you shortly.

 On another note…

I’m happy to announce that there will be an anthology involving my vampyre and friends, which will be released this December.  This volume will contain ‘select’ short stories from my other blog “The Vampyre Blogs – Private Edition” (link: https://thevampyreblogs.wordpress.com/).  The reason for this is that I’ve been told by a number of people that they find it hard scrolling through a bunch of old blog entries to find the short stories, even though they really want to read them.  And since that blog is over two and a half years old, I know there’s a lot of stuff to wade through.

However, the anthology will not just contain stories from here, we are including 4-5 brand new stories just for the collection, which will NOT be reproduced here.  They will only be found within the pages of the anthology itself.  The total number of tales to appear in this first anthology has yet to be decided so stay tuned for more details.

In other news:

Book 2 of the Vampyre Blogs is now officially under way.

At this time “The Vampyre Blogs – Family Ties” release date should be early October 2018 (which is why I’m releasing the anthology in the meantime, so as not to leave you all high and dry without anything new).  The story will take place two weeks after the conclusion of the first novel and will open with Nathan’s return, along with new trouble brewing.

The presence of Isabella will raise new questions and concerns for all who dwell under his roof, while an unscrupulous developer tries to influence the upcoming town council elections so he can get his hands on 1000+ acres of land Nathan’s home stands on.  Then there’s Marisa’s father. Are the cancer treatments he’s receiving really helping or will Nathan have to undergo a procedure that could leave him more vulnerable than ever to an attack from an old foe he believed had been vanquished?

Finally, “The Door” which has been plagued by numerous starts and stops has been growing and is coming along very nicely.  This book continues the saga of Alex, Veronica, Julie and Cassandra and will wrap up several lingering story fragments including who the mysterious white-haired man is that has been stalking Cassandra for the last year.  It will also reveal why the ghostly Brandon has watched over the heiress all these years, as well as introduce some new characters who will play a pivotal role in the entire Para-Earth Series in the future.

So as you can see there’s a lot going on in the writing department for me and I hope the results will please and intrigue you all.

Until next time, stay tuned to this blog and keep writing.

For those of you not familiar with a Hobbit Birthday Party it goes like this…

My birthday is coming up on March 30th, but instead of asking for presents I’m giving one away to anyone who wants it. The present in this case is a FREE Kindle copy of “The Vampyre Blogs – Coming Home”! The catch… none.

I simply want to get the newest installment of the Para-Earth Series into the hands of as many readers as possible, because word-of-mouth is THE best promotion tool out there.

So stay tuned and start spreading the word. It all begins on March 30th and will last until midnight April 3rd. That’s a whole five days to grab a copy and meet the newest vampyre in town. What is he like?

For starts, he does NOT sparkle. He’s much more your traditional style of vampyre: drinks blood, sleeps in dirt, shape-shifts (animals, mist, etc.). Best of all but he’s a hundred and fifty years of fun with life experience both here and in other versions of Earth. Want to learn more?

You can check out some of the free short stories over at his Blog site:

Or take a sneak peek into the novel itself at:

So start spreading the word and marking your calendar to take advantage of this opportunity. You’ll be glad you did…

I had planned on releasing a special short story on Christmas Day for all my readers.  The original idea had been to release it on Smashwords for free, in order for everyone to take advantage of their new Nooks, Kindles, I-Pads, etc.  However due to all a heavy last minute cram everything into the last few weeks of the semester at my university, I never got to do a cover and several other things needed before the story could go up on Smashwords.

So instead, I’ve been releasing the story in chapters on my other blog “The Vampyre Blogs – Special Edition”.

What makes this story so special is that it involves not only my vampyre character Nathaniel, but several other familiar faces faces from my first published novel “The Bridge”. I set the story sixteen years in the past so as not to conflict with that took place in “The Bridge”.

I’ll continue to release more chapters each day up until Christmas where the story will reach its climax.   Depending on the response I get, I hope to do the same thing next year with a brand new story.

At the same time, I’ll be releasing the current story in its entirety for Kindle, Nook, and other e-books with but with an original artwork cover, proper editing, and possibly some illustrations (fingers crossed).

In the meantime, let the holiday reading begin.  I’m providing links to Parts I and II just below.  Tomorrow I’ll post the link for part III and so on until Christmas day.  I hope you all take advantage and enjoy the story.  Please leave feedback here or over at “The Vampyre Blogs – Private Edition”.so I know what you all thought of the story and your opinions on my releasing it installments.

“Home For Christmas: A Para-Earth Holiday Tale”

PART I: http://thevampyreblogs.wordpress.com/2014/12/22/home-for-christmas-a-para-earth-holiday-tale-part-one/

PART II: http://thevampyreblogs.wordpress.com/2014/12/22/home-for-christmas-a-para-earth-holiday-tale-part-two/

I’m looking for honest reviews for my new paranormal/mystery novel “THE SHIP”.

So far I’ve had 4 reviews on Amazon (all of them 5 star ratings), but I’ve only had one on Smashwords and over at Goodreads.com.  I really would like to see more, since most prospective readers like to see what others are saying about a new book.

So, in order to get them I’m offering 5 free E-Book copies through Smashwords. You’ll be able to get your copy via a coupon I code I will be supplying any volunteers with.

For those who are not completely familiar with Smashwords, they have the following e-book formats avialable: (Nook, Kindle, Apple, Sony, and PDF). You’ll have 1 month to read the book and provide a review on Smashwords and if you happen to have a Goodreads account, I would love to see it posted there as well.

BACK COVER SYNOPSIS OF THE NOVEL:
Cassandra Elliott is a billionaire heiress, who has just come out of the closet.  She is also a powerful psychic who has seen incredible and terrifying things.

In fact, just two weeks ago she and her new girlfriend Julie Cloudfoot, survived a horrific battle with a creature from a parallel reality, where evolution took a decidedly different turn.

As a result of that encounter the two of them have come to Santa Cruz California to bury Julie’s uncle who fell to the creature, and to see if their new relationship will work out.  But an old adversary is stalking them.  A white haired man with plans for Cassandra.  However, before he can make a move, a new threat appears.  A legendary ghost ship arises from the sea and marks Cassandra as it’s next target.

Soon Cassie and Julie find themselves fighting not only for their loves, but to keep from being separated forever…

Send me a private message if you are interested. Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from some of you.

Take care and keep writing.

I’ ve had few people ask me a question about my vampyre blog recently.  They’ve been wondering why I use the words “Private Edition” in the title.  The answer is simple.  I didn’t want that blog to have the same exact name as my novel out of concern that I might confuse some of my readers.  Since they are connected, I wanted the two to sound similar without being identical.  And personally speaking, I’m glad I chose “The Vampyre Blogs–Private Edition” for the title of the blog.  It seems appropriate since none of the entries appearing on that blog will be showing up in the actual novel.

The entries I post there are simply for the enjoyment of the readers.  They are a bit of free background info on some of the characters, as well as scenes that can be considered free short-stories.

I’ve already decided that since that blog has already had over 400 views in the month and a half that it was put up, I will continue to keep it going even after the novel comes out in December of this year.  I find I enjoy doing these little shorts about my vampyre and the people who’s lives touch his.

I also plan on doing more novels with him, if the first one does well.

So in the meantime, come see what’s been happening at his dance club “The Crypt”.  There’s always something going on down there, be it big or small.  The doors are open, and you’re invited…

I want to thank everyone who participated and took advantage of getting a free copy of my paranormal/mystery “THE BRIDGE”.  The first time I did a Free giveaway, less than 450 people took advantage of the opportunity.  This time I did wee bit better… 896!!!

And to all of you who helped spread the word to others about the giveaway…THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!  You gave me the opportunity to reach more people and hopefully turn them into fans.

I know a number of people will be saying, “Gee… too bad those weren’t actual money sales.”  And they would be right.  However, when you’re first-time author and trying to get your name out there, giveaways can be a powerful tool to get a fan-base started.  I’ve heard from a number of people who keep telling me they loved the first book and are looking forward to the next one.

To date: 1408 copies of “THE BRIDGE” are out there in the hands of readers.  Of those about 100 were actual paying sales.  Now most of those people had never heard of me before and took a chance and from what I’ve heard, they were glad they did.  Those new folks are eager to see what I come out with next and will quite likely be willing to not just wait for the free-versions.  Yes, free giveaways are a gamble, but they can pay you back down the road, you just have to be patient.

Remember you’re in this for the long haul.  JK Rowling, Stephen King and other greats did not make millions overnight.  They had to get their names and products out there.  But they had help in the form of publishing companies and agents.  They still had to do a lot of self-promoting as well, don’t get me wrong.  However, even with big name companies to help spread the word, but the authors had to get out there as well.  The same holds true for us Indie Authors.

I know I’ve mentioned all this before in previous posts, but it still holds true.  The greatest marketing tool is you the author.  Go to local bookstores and find out how they choose books to put on their shelves.  Especially local bookstores who may want to feature a new hometown author.  The same goes for radio and television stations.  Check your local ones and see if any want to interview you.  Talk to local libraries and book clubs to see if they want a speaker to talk about e-publishing.  Hold free giveaways on Amazon and Smashwords to increase your reader base.  Those who love your book WILL tell their friends and recommend your work to them.  It all takes time, have the patience and persevere.  That’s all I can tell you right now.

If any of you who read this blog have extra advice please leave those suggestions in the comments section below.  We’re all in this together and sharing our knowledge can help everyone.  Until next time, take care and keep writing.

PS: My next entry will be my thoughts about KDP Select so stay tuned…
